Interview with Chloe

Artist & illustrator - Chloe, 8, lives in Belarus (Brest City) with her family.

 

A remarkable young artist & illustrator, it is with a great talent for color and composition that Chloe tells funny and poetic stories.


Chloe does not hesitate to share her life and her passion through her portrait drawings. Above all, she also uses her art to convey an essential message:

" IIt is only with the heart that one sees rightly, what the essential is invisible to the eye ". - Little Prince

: Hi Chloe, how are you? Can you introduce yourself, please?
VS   :

Hello, my name is Chloe. I live in Belarus (city of Brest). I am 8 years old girl and now I study in the third grade. I love nature and animals very much. Most of all I like to travel, read books, play board games, collect LEGO and spend time with my Family.

: What does drawing give you? What inspires you?
VS  :

Drawing gives me happiness. I am very happy every time I put my emotions to paper and my characters come alive.

Reading children’s books with my Mom, love to animals, nature and ocean inspires me most of all. My Mom and Dad, my memories of traveling, walks and trips to nature with my Family also inspire me.

 : You create a lot of funny characters like Asparagus Family, Lovely Bee, etc… What are you trying to tell us in your drawing and in your stories?
VS   :

In my drawings all my characters look like people. They can be good, funny, kind and even angry, just like people.

: Of all your characters, which one is your favorite, and why? Which one is closer to you or like you?
VS  :

Asparagus family is my favorite one. They are one of my first characters. I still love create and draw new ones of them. I think they are reflection of my family in some way.

I also like wonderful small insect Mosquito very much. It lives interesting life full of adventure, just like me.

: Would you like your artworks to be exhibited in Gallery / Museum (online/offline) to share your emotions and your artistic universe with other artists of the world ?
VS  :

Of course I would. I will be very pleased to introduce my fantasy to the world.

: Chloe, who is your favorite artist or illustrator, and why?
VS  :

Two of my favorite illustrators are Loic Joannigot (illustrator from France) and Robert Ingpen (artist-illustrator from Australia). I love to read children’s books illustrated by them. Their illustrations are amazing.

: Creativity is important when drawing and painting. How do you stay creative?
VS  :

Some ideas come to me during and after traveling, some after reading books and some just from the inside of me (For example: acrylic tin stood on the table, I looked at it and saw hotel, as result – nice drawing). As for me all around is inspiration if you are in good mood and everything is fine.

: Art means lots of different things to different people. What does art mean to you?
VS  :

For me art is possibility to share part of me with the rest world.

: You like drawing and painting, and what else?
VS  :

Besides drawing I like to roller skate, ride a scooter and collect puzzles.

: Do you know what you want to be when you grow up? An Artist?
VS  :

When I grow up I want to become a famous illustrator of children books. I wish my further books illustrated by me were in every family around the world where the children are.
